Design and Simulation of a Circadian Lighting Control System Using Fuzzy Logic Controller for LED Lighting Technology

This paper introduces a fuzzy logic-based circadian lighting control system using flexibility of Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technology to synchronise artificial with (natural) Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) characteristics. Besides for vision acuity, the Non-Imaging Forming effects affect human rhythms. Past works in spectrally tuning CCT or Spectral Power Distribution have used conventional Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) architecture, where modelling process transfer functions was mathematically complex, especially nonlinear systems. A methodology regulating is employed 7×5 logic rules matrix Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) system, closely replicate natural characteristics indoor lighting. reference lookup table devised store desired values arbitrarily respect time mark day, which acts as an outdoor stimulus and guides FLC. The FLC compensates lack space. Simulation results show acceptable output conforming parameters at day compared targets. Deviation from blackbody curve within ±0.003 Duv checking. did not produce overshoot (0.0%) steady state (zero error) reached after fourth iteration. Also, rise calculated be 1 approach could further enhanced cater additional custom needs many built environments. Future may consider connecting more sensors capture real-time practical regulation.
